'58, '60 is playing in 3 groups,
first - the Hot
Springs Community Band (clarinet) - This
70 member concert band plays a summer season of 6
concerts in the Hot Springs National Park, as well
as several other seasonal concerts, in addition to
'ceremonial' appearances in the central Arkansas
area (the most imminent being an appearance
connected to the opening of the Clinton presidential
library in Little Rock.) Second the Village
Big Band (I 'front' the band on
clarinet/alto-tenor sax) - This
group is an 18 piece dance band which, in addition
to social club dances in the Hot Springs Village
area, plays a series of outdoor lakeside
concert/dances by one of the Hot Springs Village
lakes. Third the Village
Dixielanders (clarinet) - This
group plays for a variety of occasions, entertaining
at retirement homes, picnics, parties, and commercial
venues in the Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village area.
Bill
Collins (class of 74) - I'm
still playing trumpet with several groups around
the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I am a
freelancer, so I play with many different groups.
Not counting the various church jobs I get, I
mainly play for: the Dallas Summer
Musicals, the James Davis Orchestra, the
Phares Corder Orchestra, the Fort Worth
Rodeo Band, a few Casa Manana productions, sometimes
with the Fort Worth Symphony Pops, various
recording sessions for TV & radio jingles, and
various entertainers who come to this area.
Finally, I'm trying to
learn some dixieland by playing in the Delta
Kings Dixieland Band once a week out at the Broadway
Plaza at Cityview, I'm in the Pete
Petersen Collection Big Band, that plays at
the Hilton in Arlington once a month, and I
sub in the Jazz Monsters Big Band once in a
while. Those last three are my free---fun
gigs which is also an attempt to keep those
types of music alive.
John Stuckey
... do I play? Yes, I still play my French
Horn.....mostly at my church or some others in the
Clear Lake area. I have played numerous
Christmas pageants over the years, including another
one this year. On occasion, I play with the Clear
Lake Symphony and the Houston Symphonic Band.
I also maintain a studio of 30 private students.
Stephen Urion
Class
of 1972 -
I'm still playing my French Horn in two community
bands and a community orchestra here in the
suburbs and Des Moines, Iowa, outright. I
also host a woodwind quintet that meets a dozen
times a year or so and attend a chamber music
workshop in northern California every summer for a
week. Every Easter weekend I play in a band
that records for archival purposes obscure Eastern
European marches. I also sub with a very
good community Orchestra in Ames, Iowa, when
called upon (I'll be doing their winter concert in
February with them) and and previously done
two other gigs with them.
Chuck
Trimble Class of
1976 - I played the bass guitar in the marching
band the fall of 1973 season. It was great
fun. I am the worship leader
in my church and have continued playing the bass
guitar as well as my guitar, tenor sax and
clarinet. Occasionally I
perform at Love and War in Texas in
Plano. I also collect
and repair antique woodwinds especially clarinets
and saxophones.
Gretchen
F. Toler, M.D. - Now
that I am raising a new generation of band kids, I
decided it was time to start playing again.
I have been taking clarinet lessons since
last fall. I
am not brave enough to play in public yet, but I
hope to (eventually)!

Pamela Becker Bentley BME '92 - I
am currently freelancing in the San Diego area.
A member of the Musician's Union here, I am on
the sub-list for San Diego Chamber Orchestra
and San Diego Symphony. Feel free to
contact me with any questions. We had a
fantastic time at Homecoming! Thanks!
Paul Dods - Due to
stupidity and brain freezes caused by too much
cerveza while I student, I put away my
clarinet in the early 1980's, and didn't touch
it for 17 years. I
finally woke up and quit my computer systems
job, and picked my horn back up.
At the present,
I'm the principal clarinet of the Sherman,
TX Symphony.
I also perform
with the Plano, TX Community Band; and
occassionaly with the Plano Flute Choir
(on contra clarinet) and do a few odd church
gigs.
In addition, I
teach clarinet and saxophone privately to
middle and high school students - about 40
students at last count. I
also do clarinet overhauls and maintenance
work on a part time basis.
Mandy
Simms Stewart - I am still
playing the flute in my church's band.
Jim
Smith, '56 - I still play ...
bass and tenor trombone. The
groups with which I've hooked up since
returning from Indiana in May include: The
Richardson Community Band (bass
trombone), The Collin County Community
College Jazz Ensemble (bass trombone), The
North Dallas Trombone Choir (bass
trombone), The Dallas Christian Jazz Band
(bass trombone), and Swing Street
Connection (bass and tenor trombone).
They're all in
Dallas and Collin Counties. Would love
to play with your band in Fort Worth--call
me. I've
been back in Texas since May (after living
and working in Indiana for 25 years). Please
don't hesitate to contact me when the
Ex-bandsman's Association needs help on a
project. Curt Wilson can update you on my
background.
PS Highest compliments to everyone
associated with homecoming ...
absolutely top drawer!
Carol Cappa TCU class of '74
- I played flute and piccolo in the TCU
Marching and Symphonic Band during my
freshman and sophomore years 1970 and 72 and
became a member of Tau Beta Sigma as well.
In 1974,I
graduated from TCU with a degree in Music -
Flute and Music Ed and in 1980 finished a
Masters Degree in Music Ed from the
University of North Texas. My last
teaching job was in Grand Prairie ISD.
Currently I
work for Sabre Holding in Southlake, Texas
where I have been for 7 years. Prior to that
I worked for American Airlines since 1986.
Music is my
therapy. I still play my flute and recently
joined a "community" orchestra in
Dallas called the North Texas Orchestra where
I am principal flute. Our first concert will
be held at SMU on January 22nd, 2005 in
Caruth Auditorium.
I also am a
member of Cast of Bronze Hand bell
Ensemble. We will be one of the featured
groups performing with the Dallas Symphony
on their Christmas concerts in December at
the Meyerson. One concert will be televised
live on Friday night, December 10th on
channel 5 at 8pm. Check our our website www.castofbronze.com
I also direct
the Hand Bell Choir at Celebration
Community Church in Fort Worth.
Lastly, I am a
member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus
and am excited to be traveling with the
symphony and the chorus to New York City in
April 2005 when we will be performing
Carmina Burana at Carnegie Hall. I was not
able to attend the recent band homecoming
activities this year because I was
performing with the Dallas Symphony chorus
that weekend and was so disappointed to miss
all the great activities that were
planned. I did make it to the Wind
Symphony concert on Sunday afternoon
though!!
Fort Worth is
still my home. My girlfriend, Sue
Spell, and I bought a home in the
Crossing of Fossil Creek area of north Fort
Worth in 2002. I'd
love to hear from former horned frogs from
the 1970-74 years!!!
Go FROGS!!!
Levianne
Walker Mirabelli - '90 When I
first graduated I put my French Horn in the
closet and
said "I never want to see you
again!" But as we have all discovered
that doesn't last for long. I played with
the Texas Wind Symphony one season. I
have played
off and on for 10 years in a Brass Quintet
called Crimson Brass. I have also played at
different churches in the area for the
holidays. Now that I have 2 little boys my
French Horn is back in the closet...but I
hear it calling my name!
Kathy
Smith - plays flute and has
performed at church organized functions such
as Women's Retreats, Regional Women's
Assemblies, worship services and with the TCU
Community Band in the past. Currently
isn't playing but given the right
opportunity and time to work up to it again
... I could be persuaded to dust off my
flute case and perform again.
Gretchen
Williams - TCU '66 -

Heights/Killeen/Temple area.) Play mainly
by request, although I play sometimes with
the semi-professional orchestra

Ralph
Stevenson - I left school during the
summer of 1969 to join the Army. Tried to
get into the Continental Army Band, but they
were full of percussionists. Went to
Vietnam. Got out. Went back in. Stayed till
August 1991 - retired. Went to work in the
hotel business and am now happily employed
by Anheiser-Busch Companies at the One and
Only "Kingsmill Resort and Spa" in
Kingsmill on-the-James in Historic
Williamsburg, Virginia. Not playing now,
just having fun.
Kevin
White - Class of 93 - I was a
trumpet player from 89-93 in the marching,
symphonic, basketball and jazz bands. Andrew
Williams was a baritone player
in marching/symphonic bands and guitarist in
the jazz and basketball bands from 88-92. He
is a band director now in Crowley.
We are both in the
band Little Green Men now, and we play all
over the state just about every weekend.
Andrew plays guitar and
sings, and I am the lead vocalist. In fact,
we're playing tonight 02/04/05 at the
Aardvark right across the street from the
TCU Bookstore!
Our website is www.lgm.net,
